I have over 16 years experience in roles as a Principal, General Manager, Executive Director where I have provided a Māori woman's perspective in the areas of education, leadership, people and strategy.
I completed my Doctorate of Māori Development and Advancement (DMDA) in 2018 and have since enjoyed working in consulting roles and continuing to build on my reputation as a disruptor and provocative leader. I like to push the boundaries and encourage people to think about what else is possible. I lead by example and love to see team members develop and flourish in a supportive team environment.
Teaching and education is in my blood, and is my passion and purpose. This has enabled me to take my skills and knowledge into other industries to develop programmes, and educate and mentor others in a supportive and safe way.
I am a mother, a wife and a grandmother.
I am relentless in my focus of improving outcomes for Māori and to make contributions of consequence. I want to ensure my mokopuna are able to live as Māori and achieve as Māori, determining their own direction, within their own modern day context. This won't occur by making subtle, safe and conservative changes. It requires brave, bold leadership and audacious decision making.
This is the leadership that excites and motivates me.
